At Express Cuisine, we believe food should be made with highest care and attention. That’s why our sandwiches are handmade, using only the freshest ingredients. We take pride in our sandwiches, and we know that you will taste the difference.
During the 1990s, the Patel Brothers, owners of numerous independent Petrol Service Stations, requested their sandwich supplier to refrain from providing any pork or ham-based products, citing religious beliefs.
When the supplier declined, the Patel Brothers took matters into their own hands, employing staff to produce sandwiches in their head office kitchen for their stations.
Their principled stance caught the attention of other retailers who were inspired to stock their products.
Under the leadership of the second generation of the Patel Brothers, Express Cuisine is poised for national expansion. With major supermarkets, retailers, and other partners onboard, the potential for growth is boundless.
1998
Express Cuisine (EC) begins producing sandwiches in a small kitchen at its Eccles, Greater Manchester headquarters, serving chilled foods to local family-owned filling stations and businesses in Greater Manchester/Lancashire, and Wales.
2003
EC expands operations, moving to a larger premise in Prestwich, Manchester spanning over 7000 square feet, catering to convenience sectors, independent retailers, grocers, and stations.
2004
EC acquires 20 vans, significantly increasing deliveries and expanding its reach to over 1000 North West shops by the year's end.
2005
Launches a ZeeTV advertisement to enhance brand awareness within the Islamic and Asian communities.
2006
Achieves HFA certification (Halal Food Authority), marking a significant milestone for those following halal diets.
2007
Introduces the HK (Halal Kitchen) Brand exclusively for Asda.
2008
Midlands expansion, including the purchase of a distribution centre to facilitate product delivery to shops in and around the Midlands.
2009
Sohel Patel champions the role of Managing Director.
EC wins its first award at the I Love NW Food and Drink Awards for its Mango Lassi drink.
2010
Secures a deal with HMC (Halal Monitoring Committee), solidifying its position as a major provider of halal chilled foods.
2012
Under new leadership, EC enters additional markets such as universities and airports.
2013
Gains contracts with major supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, and Morrisons.
2014
Joins forces with a Major Food Service Group (MFG).
2015
Considers expansion due to business growth, leading to discussions about acquiring a larger premise.
2016
Acquires a new factory in Bolton, Greater Manchester spanning 18,000 square feet, with faster and more efficient technology and improved delivery logistics.
2017
Achieves BRC certification, enhancing food safety and traceability guarantees.
2018
EC becomes a manufacturer of a major franchise food service.
2022
EC strikes a significant deal with MFG.
2024
Opens a depot in London and receives the Business of the Year award from the Islam Channel.
